skate-regOwen Sound, ON – The City of Owen Sound is pleased to announce that the Order of Good Cheer Outdoor Rink located at Harrison Park is now open for public skating.
With more seasonal colder weather, City staff have been working hard to prepare the ice surface at the Order of Good Cheer Outdoor Rink for this year's skating season.
Everyone is reminded of the guidelines for use of the rink:
HOCKEY is permitted on ALL
ODD calendar days
SKATING is permitted on ALL
EVEN calendar days

The Owen Sound Attack's top veterans led by example Saturday night, propelling the team to their second consecutive victory over the Kitchener Rangers, 5-2.

The Attack beat Kitchener 3-0 Friday night, lifting the team from a losing skid that had stretched to four straight games.

Sharipzyanov-regThe Owen Sound Attack has named Russian defenseman Damir Sharipzyanov the teams Becker Shoes Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, December 30th.

Sharipzyanov picked up an assist in a 2-1 loss last Friday in Sarnia, but played significant minutes in both weekend games, including a shutout loss to the Battalion at home last Saturday.

The 18 year old rearguard is having a stellar season and currently sits 19th among OHL defenseman in scoring having notched 2 goals and 14 assists. The sophomore's fine play has also secured him a spot on Russia's preliminary roster for the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championships.

attack-red-regThe Owen Sound Attack are back in action with a pair of games against the Kitchener Rangers this weekend.

The Attack head to Kitchener on Friday night for a 7:30 pm puck drop before returning home for a game at the same time on Saturday night.

Kitchener currently sits three points up on the Attack in the Midwest Division and the season series between the two teams has been an extremely tight one, with both teams having won two of the four games played. Each of the last three games have gone to a shootout.

Sharipzyanov-russia-featOwen Sound Attack defenceman Damir Sharipzyanov has been named to the preliminary roster for Team Russia ahead of the 2015 World Junior Hockey Championships.

Sharipzyanov is one of 38 players, including four goalies, 10 defensemen, and 14 forwards to be named to Russia's initial roster.

Playing in his 2nd season with the Attack, Sharipzyanov has two goals and 13 assists in 23 games for 15 points, almost equalling his point total of 16 from last season.
