The Owen Sound Attack are set to play their next four games on the road, with three of those coming this weekend on an Eastern road swing. The Attack head to Kingston, Belleville, and Oshawa for three games in three nights beginning on Friday, Nov. 21 in Kingston.
Owen Sound will take on the Frontenacs at 7:00 pm before moving on to Belleville to play the Bulls on Saturday, and finishing up in Oshawa against the Generals on Sunday.
This trip sees Owen Sound take on the top three squads in the Eastern Division, with Oshawa representing the Eastern Conference's number one team overall. As of Tuesday night, the Attack currently sit in 4th place in the Midwest with a 10-5-1-4 record, good for 25 points.
The Owen Sound Attack will be squaring off against a divisional rival in a home and home this weekend. The Attack travel to London to take on the Knights on Friday, Nov. 14, before returning home for a rematch on Saturday. Game time for both contests is 7:30pm.
Owen Sound enters the weekend on the heels of Michael McNiven's first career OHL shutout, a game that also snapped a three game losing skid for the squad. London also had a streak snapped in their last outing, a 9-4 loss to the Guelph Storm. The Knights had previously won eight games in a row. Just a single point separates these two Midwest Division squads, with the Knights holding a 12-7-0-0 record for 24 points this year, while the Attack sits at 9-4-1-4 for 23 points.
Owen Sound's Kyle Platzer will be looking to extend his eight game point streak against his former team on Friday night.In the past eight contests, Platzer has scored once and added 10 assists for 11 points in what has been a breakout year for the Edmonton Oilers' draft pick. Through the Attack's 18 games on the year, Platzer has 24 points and is on pace to shatter his career high.
TORONTO – The Canadian Hockey League has announced the roster for Team Russia that will compete in the 2014 SUBWAY® Super Series, which begins Monday November 10 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
A team of 23 Russian players will travel across Canada as part of the 12th annual series with six games against CHL competition from November 10-20 in preparation for the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship which takes place this winter in Montreal and Toronto.
Damir Sharipzyanov of the Owen Sound Attack is one of 10 Russian-born Canadian Hockey League players who will take part in the series.
Sharipyzanov and Sergey Tolchinsky of the Sault. Ste. Marie Greyhounds will play for Team Russia in their game in Peterborough on Thursday, Nov. 13 and in Kingston on Monday, Nov. 17.

The Owen Sound Attack's Michael McNiven stood tall in net Saturday, backstopping his tired team to a 3-0 win – McNiven's first Ontario Hockey League shutout.
It was the third game in three nights for the Attack, and the only win in the trio of games. The Attack lost in Windsor 4-2 Thursday, then lost a 3-2 shootout in Plymouth Friday.
It was all Windsor in the first period Saturday, before the Attack woke up in the second period. Chris Bigras walked in from the blueline during a four-on-four and scored a neat backhander. In the third, Attack goals were scored by Damir Sharipzyanov and Zach Nastasiuk less than a minute apart to seal the victory. Nastaskiuk also scored twice in Thursday's game against the Spitfires.
The Owen Sound Attack are set for a full weekend of hockey when they kick off a three in three on Thursday in Windsor.
The Attack will travel south to take on the Spitfires at 7:05pm on Thursday evening before heading stateside for a match up against the Plymouth Whalers at 7:30pm on Friday night.Owen Sound concludes the weekend with a rematch against the Spits on Saturday at the Bayshore, with puck drop also set for 7:30pm.
Entering the weekend, the Attack are currently sitting in 2nd in the Midwest Division with a 8-3-1-3 record that leaves them with 20 points through 15 games. Erie leads the division, and the Western Conference, with a 13-0-0-1 record. The rest of the Division is tightly bunched with just three points separating the 2nd place Attack from the 5th place Guelph Storm.
