Owen Sound Attack defenceman Damir Sharipzyanov has been named to the preliminary roster for Team Russia ahead of the 2015 World Junior Hockey Championships.
Sharipzyanov is one of 38 players, including four goalies, 10 defensemen, and 14 forwards to be named to Russia's initial roster.
Playing in his 2nd season with the Attack, Sharipzyanov has two goals and 13 assists in 23 games for 15 points, almost equalling his point total of 16 from last season.

The Attack have ended November with a scoring drought, managing to score just one goal in two weekend games – both of them losses.
In Sarnia Friday night, Jeffrey Gilligan scored in the Attack's 2-1 loss. Jack Flinn stopped 28 shots to keep his team in the game, and was named third star of the game.
At home Saturday night against the North Bay Battalion, the Attack weren't able to get on the scoreboard, losing 3-0 in a lackluster match. The first goal came on a five-on-three and the last was an empty netter. The Battalion managed 24 shots on Attack goalie Michael McNiven, while the Attack peppered Battalion goalie Evan Cormier with 30 shots, although none managed to find the back of the net.
Scoring for North Bay were Kyle Wood, Mike Baird and Mike Amadio.

Details on actual players, autograph sessions and other related events will be released in the coming weeks. There will be an auction for the opportunity to play for the Canadiens as a forward or defence player closer to the event.
The Owen Sound Attack return to action with two games this weekend after a gruelling three game road trip last week.
For the 1st time this season, the Attack will travel down Highway 21 to take on the Sarnia Sting on Friday night, before returning home to play the North Bay Battalion on Saturday.
Fans, Saturday night is the first Attack Hunger night. Investor's Group and the Attack have partnered again this season to raise food for our local food bank, with an ultimate goal of 12,000lbs. Representatives will be on hand prior to the game at entrances to collect food.
Owen Sound and North Bay have met once already this year, with the Attack winning a thrilling 3-2 overtime decision early in October.
The Owen Sound Attack is announcing that goaltender Jack Flinn has been named the Becker Shoes Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 24th.
Flinn appeared in two games for the Attack last weekend, going 1-1 with a 2.48 GAA and a .929 save percentage in games on Friday and Sunday.
On Friday in Kingston, Flinn turned aside 32 of 34 shots in a 3-2 overtime win and was also named the games 2nd star. Sunday evening against the powerhouse Generals, Flinn stopped 33 of 36 in a 3-2 loss en route to being name the games 3rd star.
