OS-logo-featThe City of Owen Sound would like to thank the public for assistance in determining the source of the high volume water usage in the southeast corner of the City in the area south of 10th Street East and east of 8th Avenue East during the period of September 10th to September 22nd. The City has received information establishing the source for most of the high flow events.

Council and staff greatly appreciate the assistance received from the public.

hydrant-featureThe City of Owen Sound is seeking the public's assistance in determining the source of a large volume of water usage.

The City's water control system has detected several high flow events; twice on September 10th, twice on September 11th, six times on September 15th, and three times on September 22. The water usage lasts only for 1 to 3 minutes, but the flow rate is equal to many hundreds of gallons a minute; comparable to what would be seen from a flowing fire hydrant.

The events occurred in the southeast corner of the City in the area south of 10th Street East and east of 8th Avenue East. Patrols of the area during, and after the events turned up no evidence of public hydrant usage. The likely source is

Ms. Allan is not a new face at City Hall. From 2011 to 2014 she was employed as the Manager of Accounting Services. Most recently, she was the Director of Financial Services with the Town of Saugeen Shores.

tttrail-featureCity officials would like to report that the Tom Thomson trail will be closed to all users from the south limit of the Waste Water Treatment Plant (2050 3rd Avenue East) to the north limit of the Water Treatment Plant (2650 3rd Avenue East) beginning September 17, 2015 and is to reopen September 30, 2015.

This closure is taking place to facilitate the reconstruction of the existing trail.
