The Friends of Cabot Head (FOCH) invite you to our annual gathering and fundraising dinner on Saturday, May 7 at the Tobermory Community Centre. FOCH is a not-for-profit organization of concerned citizens who maintain and manage the Historic Cabot Head Lightstation. We depend on donations, membership dues, Assistant Lightkeeper Program fees, and gift shop sales to fund all maintenance and operations. Your contributions keep this beautiful facility and area open to the public.

The general meeting, open to members, begins at 2:30pm. At 4:30, Scott Parent offers a fascinating presentation on his SUP Winter Crossing of Georgian Bay. Doors open at 4pm for the presentations. AlyshaBrilla 2014-2ONE BILLION RISING OWEN SOUND 2016 will take place on Friday, April 29th featuring multi Juno nominee Alysha Brilla. The One Billion Rising campaign is named for the global statistic that one out of three women will be beaten or raped during their lifetime. One billion women and girls will face abuse. The organization began a global campaign in 2013 with the idea that communities across the world could host an event to show solidarity and express anger over this injustice. This year's theme is One Billion Rising: Rise for Revolution. There will be a flash mob with Alysha in front of City Hall at 5 pm. At 9 pm at Heartwood Concert

STM-pic2This Mother's Day weekend, join Midwives Grey Bruce in celebrating mothers and working to make motherhood safe for all women. On May 7th join us at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Pavillion for a family friendly walk beside the Owen Sound harbour.

Registration will be from 8:30 to 9 am, with the walk starting at 9 am. Guest speakers will include Dr. Hazel Lynn, who will speak about her international work experience. All proceeds will be going to Save the Mothers, an organization based out of Uganda who work to reduce maternal mortality.
