flare-regGEORGIAN BLUFFS – On Thursday, October 23, 2014 at approximate 5:27 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a house fire on 30th Street West, north of Park Street, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

One person has been confirmed dead. A second victim, a 23 year old male, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has since been released from hospital. There were no other people inside the residence at the time of the fire.

A post mortem is scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2014 in London, Ontario.

ottawa-regOWEN SOUND – The City of Owen Sound pays respect to Corporal Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent.

All City flags have been lowered to half mast in honour of Corporal Nathan Cirillo, 24, a reservist with Argylls of Canada - 91st Canadian Highlanders in Hamilton, Ont. who was killed while standing guard at the National War Memorial on Parliament Hill on Wednesday, October 23, 2014 and Patrice Vincent, a 53-year-old warrant officer who was deliberately mowed down outside a federal government office in Quebec City on Monday, October 20, 2014.

opp-graphic-regularKINLOSS TWP – On October 22, 2014 at 6:06 pm, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a 2 vehicle crash at the intersection of Bruce County Road 1 and Grey Ox Avenue in Kinloss Township. Officers attended with Bruce County paramedics and the Lucknow Fire Department to find that a White Freight Van feed truck was east bound on Grey Ox Avenue when it struck a Silver Chevrolet Impala that was north bound on Bruce County Road 1. Both drivers were taken to hospital for assessment. The driver of the Impala, a 22 year old Huron-Kinloss man, was air lifted to a London hospital where he's receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the feed truck, 21 year old Christopher MARTIN of Wellesley Township, was charged with disobey stop sign – fail to stop.

OS-Policesept-regOn October 22nd 2014 just before 11:00pm a male driver was stopped by police after travelling through a red light in his pick up truck at the intersection of 2nd Avenue West at 10th Street West, Owen Sound. After detecting the smell of alcohol on the driver's breath the Roadside Screening Device was administered by the Officer and as a result the driver registered a "Fail".

The 47 year old male driver blew just over one and one half times the legal limit of 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood.

flyer-regSOUTHGATE – A stolen glider from Southgate Township has been recovered in Wellington County resulting in the arrest of two men on October 15th and 16th, 2014, respectively.

The 25', 1977 Schempp-hirth glider plane and trailer, valued at $27,000, and an older model Kubota tractor, with an attached snow blower, valued at $2,000, were reported stolen to Grey County OPP on March 28, 2014. The break, enter and theft occurred from an outbuilding on a vacant rural property on Southgate Rd. 24 in the Township of Southgate.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, Grey County OPP Crime Unit with the assistance of Wellington County OPP and the Wellington County OPP Street Crime Unit, recovered the stolen glider at the York Soaring Club in Belwood, Ontario. Members of the York Soaring Club assisted police with the investigation.
