ORILLIA – The Ontario Provincial Police wrapped up its four-day Canada Day weekend traffic safety campaign on July 2, 2014 with two reported deaths on OPP-patrolled roads.
As part of their traffic safety campaign, the OPP raised awareness about speeding and other forms of aggressive driving, calling on motorists and passengers to do their part to help keep the number of speed-related deaths from rising. Speed is currently the leading contributing factor in road deaths investigated by the OPP so far this year (2014) when compared to distracted and impaired driving.

A 23-year-old Owen Sound man turned himself into police Wednesday morning following a collision between a speeding pickup truck and a house Tuesday night, following the Canada Day festivities at Kelso Park.
