GEORGIAN BLUFFS - On Monday, October 6, 2014 at approximately 2:32 p.m., Grey County OPP received a report of a break-in at a residence on the Grey-Bruce Line in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.
Unknown person(s) forcibly entered the residence, which was not occupied at the time, and removed a new gas fireplace which had yet to be installed and a double stainless steel kitchen sink.
Police continue to investigate.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit is seeking assistance from the public in finding the owner of a dog involved in a biting incident that occurred at the Port Elgin Harbour in Saugeen Shores.
The incident occurred on the breakwater at the Port Elgin Harbour south of the Harbourlite Restaurant at approximately 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 3. The dog is described as medium size, white in colour with long hair. It was on a leash at the time of the bite and was being walked by a female.
Staff of the Grey Bruce Health Unit need to confirm the dog is not infectious with rabies. By verifying the health of the dog, the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment. TIVERTON, ON – Oct. 6, 2014 – One of the world's top-performing CANDU reactors is now receiving $86.7 million worth of planned maintenance, after a 516-day continuous run.
Bruce Power's Unit 5 was safely removed from service on Friday, Oct. 3, for the planned outage, which is scheduled for 50 days. About 400 temporary workers have been hired for the outage.
"Unit 5 has completed yet another impressive run of continuous operation, running without fail for the people of Ontario since its last planned maintenance outage in early-2013," said Brian O'Grady, Senior Vice President, Bruce B. "Bruce Power's $86 million investment in this planned maintenance outage will set up Unit 5 well for another long stretch of providing safe, reliable and carbon-free energy to the people of Ontario."
Ottawa, ON – Today, the House of Commons will be debating and potentially voting on a motion put forward by the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, asking the House to confirm its confidence for a government decision to authorize air strikes against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
This motion is in response to the increased violence and brutality of actions taken by ISIL forces in Iraq. Furthermore, ISIL has specifically targeted Canadians by urging their supporters to "attack disbelieving Canadians in any manner", vowing that we should not feel secure in our own homes.
MILDMAY – On September 27, 2014 at 7:44 am, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call to assist the West Grey Police Service with a missing person search.
On October 3, 2014, the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP Canine Unit located the body of a male. The body has been positively identified as Colen Pfeffer. Foul play is not suspected.
