trudeau-regIVY, ON – Today Liberal Party Leader Justin Trudeau joined Kimberley Love, local candidate for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, at the International Plowing Match (IPM) near Barrie. The two were also joined by Liberal agriculture critic Mark Eyking and Ontario Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Minister Jeff Leal.

OS-Policesept-regThe Owen Sound Police Service have laid charges with respect to the theft of a motor vehicle that occurred on September 21, 2014, during the early morning hours, from an east side residence in the city.

Prior to being reported stolen the vehicle was observed by members of the Bruce Peninsula OPP who attempted to stop the vehicle for a Highway Traffic Offence. The vehicle accelerated away from police at a high rate of speed who disengaged from pursuing the vehicle and occupants. Subsequently, the occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. The vehicle was recovered. The owner of the vehicle was contacted at which time it was verified that the vehicle had been stolen.

opp-graphic-regularMEAFORD – The Grey County OPP is looking to speak with the driver of a white pick-up truck following a suspicious male reported to police on September 17, 2014. Between 8:10 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. on September 17, 2014 an 11-year-old was waiting for the school bus when the pick-up truck stopped and the male driver asked "are you waiting for the bus or coming with me?" The child ignored the male driver and he drove off without any further comment.

The truck is described as a newer model white Dodge Ram, 4 doors, with a short box and a soft black tonneau cover.

The driver is described as approximately 60 years old, heavy set, with short grey hair and a goatee. He was wearing a grey sweater at the time.

Martin-bruce-regTIVERTON, ON – Bruce Power is teaming up with the Bluewater District School Board and the Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative to offer an innovative educational program for local Aboriginal youth.
The Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Program uses hands-on activities to improve students' proficiency in business mathematics, financial literacy, accounting, marketing, information/communications technology and social responsibility, while supporting the acquisition of leadership skills.

"The Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative is very pleased to join Bruce Power in offering the Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Program at Saugeen District Secondary School," said the Right Honourable Paul Martin, founder of the Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative and former Prime Minister of Canada.

OSPolice-regularOn Friday September 12, 2014 members of the Owen Sound Police Service Community Oriented Response and Enforcement unit (CORE) were conducting patrol when they discovered that the door to the Agricultural Building at Victoria Park had been forced open and that entry had been gained. The suspects damaged property at that location and then proceeded to the Grandstand area at Victoria Park. The culprits forced their way into the lower portion of Grandstands accessing the storage and office areas. During the Break and Enter they caused mischief and stole a small amount of property and money.
