LION'S HEAD – On Thursday, August 28, 2014, the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of Bruce Peninsula OPP, and the West Region Emergency Response Team, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a property on George Myles Road, in Lion's Head, Northern Bruce Peninsula.
Water samples taken at Lion's Head Beach show results within acceptable levels, according to Ministry of Health standards. The Grey Bruce Health Unit took samples on Tuesday, August 26, 2014. Based on these results, the beach, which was posted as unsafe on August 20, 2014, is now deemed safe for swimming.

You can never go wrong raising the names of Grey County's trailblazing political women Agnes McPhail and Nellie McClung. The Bruce-Grey Owen Sound Liberal nomination meeting began with just such an invocation by chair Mary Anne Alton, former director of education for the Bluewater District School Board. Under party rules, nominations were closed August 14, and Kimberly Love's nomination went uncontested.
Kaisha Thompson, a 24-year-old law student from Meaford, nominated Love, recalling their first meeting. "It was when Stephen Harper prorogued parliament and the Liberals continued to work. Kim came to Ottawa as part of the shadow cabinet. It was her compassion and positivity that struck me right away.She is progressive yet pragmatic." Thompson said the region needs Love "so our voice is heard in Ottawa, not Stephen Harper's voice echoed in Grey-Bruce." She spoke passionately about the need for policies that will allow young people to come home to Grey-Bruce and practice law or medicine or buy back the family farm. Thomson was joined in her nomination speech by Alex Watson, 22, from Owen Sound. Both have accepted roles in the local Liberal campaign.
On August 26, 2014 at 9:02 am, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break in at a commercial property in the 400 block of Queen Street South in Paisley. Sometime between 12:00 am on August 19, 2014 and 9:00 am on August 26, 2014, the building was entered through a second storey window. The ceiling, some furniture and main electrical panel were all damaged. The cost for repairs is estimated to be $5,000.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit is seeking assistance from the public in finding the owner of a dog involved in a biting incident that occurred at the Sauble Falls Parkway Bridge in South Bruce Peninsula.
On the morning of Saturday, August 23, 2014, a man running north across the Sauble Falls Parkway Bridge encountered a couple walking two dogs. As he ran past them, one of the dogs bit him. The victim did not go back and talk to the couple, but noticed that one of the people walking the dog began to reprimand it. The dog that bit the runner is described as gray, medium-sized and similar to a husky. A reliable description of the second dog could not be provided.
