SOUTHGATE – A stolen glider from Southgate Township has been recovered in Wellington County resulting in the arrest of two men on October 15th and 16th, 2014, respectively.
The 25', 1977 Schempp-hirth glider plane and trailer, valued at $27,000, and an older model Kubota tractor, with an attached snow blower, valued at $2,000, were reported stolen to Grey County OPP on March 28, 2014. The break, enter and theft occurred from an outbuilding on a vacant rural property on Southgate Rd. 24 in the Township of Southgate.
As a result of an ongoing investigation, Grey County OPP Crime Unit with the assistance of Wellington County OPP and the Wellington County OPP Street Crime Unit, recovered the stolen glider at the York Soaring Club in Belwood, Ontario. Members of the York Soaring Club assisted police with the investigation.
GEORGIAN BLUFFS – Police have conducted a search of the building and found the threat to be false. The roads have been re-opened.

Ottawa, ON – Larry Miller, MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, is pleased to see that the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority has been selected as a recipient for funding from the Federal Government for a local project that will involve the removal of the Lockerby Dam. These funds will be received through the Recreational Fisheries Conservation Partnerships Program (RFCPP).
Under the RFCPP, the Government of Canada partners with local groups to implement a variety of projects that restore, rebuild or rehabilitate recreational fisheries habitats in Canada. The RFCPP was announced as part of the 2013 Federal Budget. The program received $10 million over two years. The 2014 Federal Budget added $15 million to the program and extended it by 1 year (2015-16).
The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA) is approved for funding up to $125,000 to support their project that involves the removal of the Lockerby Dam located in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.
On Monday, October 20, 2014, members of the Drug Enforcement Unit and the Criminal Investigation Branch executed a search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of 7th Street East, Owen Sound. Officers located freshly harvested plants in the process of drying in addition to already processed marihuana. One male at the residence was taken into custody. Police seized approximately $2800.00 worth of processed marihuana, scales and packaging. A 58 year old man from Owen Sound is facing charges of Production of Marihuana and Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He has been released from custody to attend court on November 20, 2014.
NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA – Bruce Peninsula OPP is investigating a serious assault at a Cape Chin Road South, Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula address.
At 6:25 a.m. on October 21st, 2014, information obtained thus far indicates that 27 year old male was assaulted and sustained serious injuries. He is currently being treated at hospital.
At 12:33p.m. a suspect was arrested in connection to this case.
This investigation is continuing with the support of the West Region Crime Unit and West Region Forensic Identification Services Unit.
